So, I've been ill, after having my wisdome teeth out and I have taken on a few commissions... AND I am headed on vacation for a week come Friday. So I am gonna work my ASS OFF for a bit and try to get everything caught up nicely before I go. Anyway:

I am having posters printed from this, it's uber mixed-medium, there's watercolor marker colored pencil, pencil ink and digital and it's basically all of my recent characters.

This was a test of the method I am using for Jim's commission, an ill-used character of mine, her name is Vetheren

1:39AM - Update and News about Me...

School stuff: Well, I'm trying to get projects done to send to schools, all the applications are out, one letter of recomendation is sent all my grades and my SAT scores are in the mail, my portfolio could be burned to disc at the drop of a hat but I'm holding out to see what comes of the final few projects for specific schools, especially the self-portrait for NSCAD. Speaking of them they're totally out of their minds! the portfolio must be <12 peices, 4 of which are projects you have to do for them and send to them in person. The most significant of these projects is a sketchbook going back at least 3 months. Now, I don't have the proper time before things are due so I'm sort of fudging the NSCAD sketchbook and doing a crap-ton of artwork to put in there without dates for now. Oh! But one of their projects was to design an "functional item for personal use or adornment" I made horns. They're not done yet and I have to draw them up as a design and stick a photo of the finished peice on there because the assignment said "design" not "construct" but we'll see. My mum keeps saying things like she doubts they had horns in mind when they said "adornment" and "Aren't Canadians kinda conservative?" but these things are freaking awesome and they totally are functional, I can wiggle my head all around and they don't fall off, they don't pinch and hurt me and they're light enough to wear for a long time.

Other art stuff: I'm taking a watercolor class because it is time for this pointless war between myself and watercolor to come to an end. No good could ever come of it. In the first class I started to like watercolors, it's a very playful medium and it does a lot of the work itself, which to me kind of feels like cheating, but it does well for some people I suppose. The other thing lately is the more I draw real stuff (And I have been doing so much I feel like I'm losing my mind!) when I pick my clipboard up to draw one of my half-way decent little furry pictures I just can't. Then i work at it for a little while and it comes back but man is it frustrating, it's like switching gears I can't be able to do both at the same time. {sigh} Ah well. Anyhow, all the school bunnies must be headed back to school, wishing everybody luck with the coming semester. Also I keep remembering people i was going to do art for before I fell off the interweb... and then forgetting again... There's too much going on, I need some coffee.

Pipkin is awesome, she is probably the only artist ever to approach me and ask for a trade, she wanted to draw Malkavia. I have drawn her before but never done her justice, I think this one does. Let me know if the perspective works.

Mazz's character is uber-cute and was really fun to draw, yes, I know her body looks like a spider body... it was supposed to be akin to the way (s)he draws the character.

I need help with this... I had a sketch, I had liked it at one point, still liked parts of it, so I tried to fix the rest of it, you cannot imagine how much time I spent re-drawing the pic on the left. Yesterday I decided this was silly, it would be tons easier to just re-draw it, so I pulled out a clean sheet of paper and the older sketch and the picture on the right is the result. I am most pleased. However, after all of that I will cry if I ink it and then notice something that makes me go "ew, I can't believe I didn't see that" so please, any critique, any comments, anything I did better in the first one, just anyting at all, if it looks wrong, tell me, I won't get pissy, I promise. Anyway, she's supposed to look cheery, this is white-eyed Malkavia, she ought to look properly corset-ed, which I think she looked stiffer in the first one, but somehow looked also like she was slouching. She's feeding/offering food to the kitten. Um, any questions or comments will earn you my undying love... or something like that. Thanks.

The silent mutterings of an insane mind:
So, anyway, I'm crazy, won't go into the personal life but I will let you in on my artness. I have been working on commissions, mostly adult, mostly nothing I am going to post here {blush}, though Werewolfman's picture is among them. They're all at least into the working sketch stages now, the two that are left are nearly ready to ink but they're bigish and complicated... {gah} and my poor little mind has been all frazzled and stressed out. So anyway, My friend Mandy's anime club is having a convention (Pansacon) in October and I was asked if I would like a table for my art... I said yes, though I am not sure the reaction I will get, we'll see I suppose. Anyhow I am trying to get stuff done that will make good prints and will, with any luck, appeal to the audience, I may have to resort to doing some humans. ^_^ Anyhow, in addition to attempting to come up with print-worthy peices I am also working on a comic. The writer gave me the story, I like it and have been trying to break it down in preperation for some formating stuff. Communication has been bad on my end, as well as hers, things are going slow, still, I should have some concept art up soon. It'll be 16 pages and I should be fine covering the printing costs up-front, it's not actually as bad as I expected, and it's with a color cover and all... ^_^ Heh, but with all of this taken into account I have also decided to do some sculpting, I ordered plaster strips, wire and paper mache stuff. It's gonna be awesome, I love working in 3-D, 's been too long. I'm planning to do Malkavia, set her up to hold the comics if I can. I want to get Edwin's brother Ben to come to the convention, he does anime-style art, so it'd be awesome, but he's being unlikely... {pout} at least he let me color his picture. Which brings me to my final point before I crash (so tired...) I have been coloring with my tablet all day, takes forever but the result is, thus far, quite good. ^_^ {yawn} hopefully Ben will give his approval so I can show it to you folks. {hugs} for now, 's sleep time. Oh! One last thing, new Malkavia art soon, I promise!

8:34AM - Art, Nonsense and minor update

So, I want to get my tablet set up so I can play with it but my desk is too small to leave it set up all the time and my cat would sleep on it anyhow. I hope to set it up shortly and do something small and easy, my digital coloring has been alright in the past. My icon for 100x100 exchange, I like the sketch, and it's huge, so it whould work out well and be not too hard. We'll see. Wish me luck!

3:43PM - Malkavia

Character Name: Malkavia
Species: Feline to all appearances
Fur Color: Black with light blue stripes
Hair Color: Dark Blue
Eye Color: Both White=fluffy mood, Both Black=destructive mood, One white and one black=a neutral mood
Typical outfit/Style of Dress: Malkavia usually wears a corset (see references) and tall boots. You can draw her in any sort of outfit but the corset is pretty much always on her, so whatever you put her in, keep that in mind, it can be under a suit coat or whatever though as you like.
Max Rating: Any, especially in regards to violence, she can be sexual but be sure the situation fits her eyes, and hence her temperment.
Personality: Malkavia is more than a little peculiar. Her personality is dependent on her mood, if something tips her toward anger she becomes irrepressibly violent. If something tips her toward lovey-dovey fluff she helps little old ladies cross the street, otherwise she's pretty normal, if the sketchy side of normal, she smokes, drinks, swears, laughs and hangs out.

A commission, I am very pleased with the way this one came out, did more background than I would have otherwise, because she had to be so small in order to fit in the pose she's in.

8:10PM - Back from India UPDATE!

Hello all! So, I went to India and had a really awesome time, wouldn't trade the experience for anything, but then I came to a realization. So I left India and hopped on the next flight I could find back to Logan. I'm not going back to Marlboro College either. I'll be getting a job of some sort and working on my art. So, that's that. Now, I did some artwork while I was in India, but mostly I gave it away to my fellow GEOs. I also started a book of furry "lifedrawings" as a gift for Babu, but it's... {ahem} private. My talents, such as they are, thrived. So, I'm back! It'll take me awhile to get back into the swing of things but if I left you hanging, or you were expecting art and I never did it/didn't finish, feel free to give me a poke. Hugs,
